The Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday that a special 75 rupee coin will be released to celebrate the opening of India’s new parliament building and its milestone 75th year of independence.

The coin will feature the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar alongside ‘Satyamev Jayate’ on one side and the words ‘Bharat’ and ‘India’ in Devanagari script and English, respectively on the other.

It will also showcase an image of the parliament complex, with “Sansad Sankul” inscribed at the top in Devanagari script and “Parliament Complex” at the bottom in English.

Made from a four-part alloy consisting of silver, copper, nickel, and zinc, weighing 35 grams with a diameter of 44 millimetres and attractive serrations around its edges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil India’s new parliament building this Sunday; nonetheless, up to twenty opposition parties have decided to boycott his inauguration ceremony, claiming that there is no value addition when democracy’s soul has already been sucked out.
